25th June: online event for member schools

Owing to the train strikes, it was necessary to cancel our in-person conference at the King’s School, Macclesfield. We are refunding delegates accordingly, and moving a small portion of the conference programme to take place online.    We would be delighted to see as many members as possible online, but will also make the content available online for colleagues to view at a later date.

Delegates are invited to submit their questions (via this form) to Prof Graham, in particular regarding the new GCSE, which affects current year 7s onwards. ISMLA’s initial response to the new GCSE was published here.  The issue was covered widely in the sector press, for example here.

11am: Chair’s Welcome and update (Oliver Hopwood, Westminster School)

11.10am: Treasurer’s update (Peter Ansell):

11.20am: Self-efficacy, teacher agency, and the new GCSE: The importance of balance (Prof Suzanne Graham, University of Reading), followed by Q&A

12.30pm: Decolonising the curriculum in Modern Languages (Dr Marcela Cazzoli, University of Durham)
