ISMLA (the Independent Schools Modern Languages Association) exists to provide a forum for modern language teachers in independent, preparatory and secondary schools to meet, share ideas and contribute to developments in modern language teaching. It also aims to offer support to teachers and departments of modern languages. ISMLA also gives voice to the views of independent school linguists with national bodies such as awarding bodies, Ofqual, the Department for Education and HMC.
See here for more information about ISMLA’s activities and reasons for joining.

Webinar: How to Teach Spanish through Music in
the KS3, 4 & 5 Classroom
This webinar is aimed at teachers of Spanish who are interested in using Hispanic songs to enrich teaching and learning across KS3, KS4 and KS5. The session will explore how music can be used to teach a range of linguistic, cultural and thematic topics, while addressing common pedagogical challenges. Practical examples will be shared throughout, and participants will be introduced to a variety of songs that can be embedded within schemes of work.
This session will be led by Jemma Marshall, Development Partner at the Prince’s Teaching Institute (PTI) and Head of Spanish at Lancaster Royal Grammar School.
